Turnerwirt Review

In the former farmer's village of Gnigl, part of Salzburg's outskirts, this is a quaint complex of buildings. The most charming is the small "Villa," an adorable mansion fitted out with begonia-hung windows, red storybook roof, and fairy-tale turret. Out front is the massive Gasthaus—an Alpine roof and its name picked out in Gothic lettering on the front makes the building look on sabbatical from an Albrecht Dürer engraving. Rooms are decorated in a traditional and pleasing style. The largest suites have three and four bedrooms. By car, the Turnerwirt can be reached from Salzburg by taking the motorway and exiting after 2 km (1 mile) at Salzburg Nord or Wallersee.
