Die Weisse
Die Weisse Review
This Weissbierbrauerei occupies one of Salzburg's most historic breweries, and many locals consider it to be the ultimate private retreat (so much so that from Wednesday through Saturday it's best to make a reservation). The beer garden really hits the spot on a hot summer day, but all year long you can delight in traditional Bavarian goodies (veal sausages with sweet mustard) as well as the usual array of tempting Salzburg delights.

Just back from 9 days in Munich, Salzburg and Vienna; Spectacular trip, with the one exception of this restaurant. Based on the write-up in Fodor’s, Die Weisse looked like a good local, casual choice. Four of us visited on a Monday evening. Place was local, historic Austrian as described, with many large tables and local beer lists. We were able to get a round of beers. Then the wait staff served every table surrounding us with great attention, avoiding eye contact with our table. After being ignored for about an hour, we stepped in front of the passing waitress, demanded our check, paid on the spot and went elsewhere for dinner. If you’re not a local, don’t waste your time with Die Weisse; There are plenty of other good restaurants in Salzburg.
