A two-minute walk from the Old City and next to the historic tunnel that plows through the Mönchsberg, this modern but classy option, run by the Schwärzler hotel group, is divided between two buildings on opposite sides of the street. The decor is bright and shiny—a real blessing on a gray, rainy day—and all rooms are equipped with modern technology. Children ages six and under are free. There are a few parking spaces behind the hotel, but if they're occupied you'll have to pay to park either along the street or in a garage. Pros: excellent location; cheerful rooms. Cons: on a busy street; not enough parking.
