Mönchsberg Elevator

  • Address: Gstättengasse 13, Salzburg

Fodor's Review:

Just around the corner from the Pferdeschwemme horse-fountain, at Neumayr Platz, you'll find the Mönchsberg elevator, which carries you up through solid rock not only to the new Museum der Moderne but also to wooded paths that are great for walking and gasping—there are spectacular vistas of Salzburg. In summer this can be a marvelous—and quick—way to escape the tiny crowded streets of the Old City.

  • Cost: Round-trip EUR 2.90, one-way EUR 1.80
  • Open: Oct.-May, daily 9-9; June-Sept., daily 9AM-11PM
