The delightful little Stubai Valley, less than 40-km (25-mi) long, is one of the showpieces of the Tirol, with no fewer than 80 glistening glaciers and more than 40 towering peaks. If you just want to look, you can see the whole Stubaital in a full day's excursion from Innsbruck. The narrow-gauge electric Stubaitalbahn (departure from the center of Innsbruck on Maria-Theresien-Strasse and in front of the main rail station, as well as from the station just below the Bergisel ski jump) goes as far as Fulpmes, partway up the valley. You can take the bus as far as Ranalt and back to Fulpmes, to see more of the valley, then return on the quaint rail line.
