Tucked into a 400-year-old farmhouse, this restaurant is about a 10-minute drive north of Mayrhofen. It's difficult to find, but everybody knows Griena's—ask at your hotel for directions. Once you get there, you'll find yourself in rustic surroundings glowing in natural-wood paneling. Such local favorites as beer soup, potato-cheese dumplings, and schnitzel are tempting. Some recipes come have a long tradition in the Ziller Valley and are made with locally produced butter, buttermilk, cheese, and, of course, meat. The Zillertaler beer goes great with every dish.
