Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen

Mayrhofen is the end of the line for the narrow-gauge railway. This is the valley's main tourist base and a favorite summer resort for British and Dutch visitors. Mayrhofen is the starting point for summer hiking into the highly scenic valleys that branch off to the southeast, south, and southwest and for excursions into the Ziller glacier areas, at heights of 9,750 feet and more.

At Mayrhofen the valley splits into three Täler (valleys): the Zillergrund, Stilluptal, and Zemmgrund—prime examples of picture-postcard Alpine areas, swept at the top with glittering, pale-blue glaciers.
