Boat and Ferry Travel

There's frequent service between St. Thomas and St. John and their neighbors, the BVI. Check with the ferry companies for the current schedules. The Virgin Islands Vacation Guide & Community (www.vinow.com) publishes current ferry schedules on its website.

There's frequent daily service from both Red Hook and Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay, St. John. About every hour there's a car ferry; you should arrive at least 25 minutes before departure.

Inter-Island Boat Service. Inter-Island has daily and weekly service between St. John and the British Virgin Islands of Jost Van Dyke, Tortola, Virgin Gorda, and Anegada. 340/776-6597 in St. John.

Smith's Ferry. Smith's operates multiple trips daily between Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook in St. Thomas, and West End and Road Town, in Tortola. 340/775-7292 in St. Thomas. www.smithsferry.com.

Speedy's. Speedy's offers weekly ferry service to Virgin Gorda. The company also runs seasonal three-day weekend trips to Fajardo, Puerto Rico. 284/495-5235 in Tortola. www.speedysbvi.com.
