There's no sales tax in the USVI, but there's an 8% hotel-room tax. Most hotels also add a 10% service charge to the bill. The St. John Accommodations Council members ask that hotel and villa guests voluntarily pay a $1 a day surcharge to help fund school and community projects and other good works. Many hotels add additional energy surcharges and the like, so please ask about any additional charges, but these are not government-imposed taxes.
