Point Pleasant Resort Review

Hilltop suites give you an eagle's-eye view of the East End and beyond, and those in a building adjacent to the reception area offer incredible sea views. Sea-level junior suites, where the sounds of lapping waves will lull you to sleep, are smaller. There's a resort shuttle, but some walking up steep hills is necessary. The beach is tiny, though some may call it wonderfully private, but three pools give you more swimming and sunning options. The property also has a labyrinth of well-marked nature trails to explore. If you like seafood, don't miss dinner at the Blue Agave restaurant. Visit the Point Wellness Spa for pampering.

    Gr8 Honeymoon

After reading a lot of reviews about different caribbean destinations and resorts I selected Point Pleasant Resort for our honeymoon. It did live upto our expectations. The one thing you have to keep in mind is that this resort consists of privately owned condos and not exactly a hotel type resort, so people looking for "PROPER" hotels should not book here.

Having said this the property provided us with the most romantic room and view one can ask for on a honeymoon. It has 2 restaurants on property which are expensive but nice. Coki beach which is one of the best beaches in St. Thomas is a 10 min walk from the property. Another relaxing beach is the Sugar Beach which is on Wyndham Property. Point Pleasant provides regular shuttle to Wyndham. Red Hook which has a lot of restaurants is abot 10 min drive from here. The property has a lot of activities including kayaking, snorkelling, parasailing, day trips to St. John and British Virgin Islands. The service is very good. Although service on the entire island is slow.

The only bad thing is that the reception lobby is not open 24-7.

    the view the view

We just got back from 8 days at PP. If you are older, or have children this is not the resort for you. My parents ( any of them) would never have made it. We had 9 stair cases from our room to the dining location. The best thing is the view which is really wonderful. I like to hike so this place was great exercise and I have children back home but loved the fact there were no children here. Very quiet. I read 3 books while we were there. It's very expensive to eat here or buy anything. So you should pack it it in. The Agave (evening meal) was a beautiful spot and good food.( always fresh seafood) Average meal for 2 was $100.00. It is pretty remote so you don't have many choices. No breakfast served at the resort. Cab rides are expensive to town. ($50.00) which are fixed rates. But to be hoenst after one shopping trip to town and seeing the prices there, you only need to go once. I found a shirt I just bought back hoemn in Scottsdale at a resort the exact same price. ($130.00) at a small shop that wasn't so nice. We tried to buy a watch ( they push jewlery) but it was again the same price at home. You do have no tax/ no duty on these items. We had ants in our condo everyday in our bathroom & kitchen. Our condo was large and comfy but not as clean as we would have liked.
If you are wanting to sit out adn read on a balcony this is a restful place with great views. If you want to travel from your hotel alot it will be very pricey. Car rentals are an option but the driving and roads are very scary. We had planned to rent until we saw the driving and roads.

    BUGS - BUGS - BUGS

This hotel is a time share that has not been maintained for years. Our room smelled of smoke (we reserved non-smoking), it was very dirty (spilled soda on the floor and broken eggs on the counter) and it was filled with cock roaches (crawling on the bed!!). It was so bad that we asked to move rooms - we were told no. Finally after calling the hotel manager and not leaving the main office for 2 hours a new room was found - but only for one night. We moved the next day to the Marriot - way better! Never - Never - Never
