Cuzzin's Caribbean Restaurant and Bar
Cuzzin's Caribbean Restaurant and Bar Review
In a 19th-century livery stable on Back Street, this restaurant is hard to find but well worth it if you want to sample bona fide Virgin Islands cuisine. For lunch, order tender slivers of conch stewed in a rich onion-and-butter sauce, savory braised oxtail, or curried chicken. At dinner the island-style mutton, served in thick gravy and seasoned with locally grown herbs, offers a tasty treat that's deliciously different. Side dishes include peas and rice, boiled green bananas, fried plantains, and potato stuffing.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch. The buttered conch was incredible! Our plates were piled high and we could not finish everything though we wished we could. It was our best meal all week.

Have been there numerous times for lunch and have never ever been disappointed. Yes, it will be difficult to find a place to park, so take a taxi. Yes, it will be crowded when there are six cruise ships in town, so go on a day when there are fewer ships. No, there is no water view, but you'll likely dine at plenty of other places that have the view. What you won't find as often, are the fabulous Caribbean flavors, friendly service and island atmosphere that you always get at Cuzzins.

Off Waterfront AND Main, this small place is well intended (Jan 9, 2007) but did not deliver great food. It was good but not great and hard to find. Advice...take a taxi and order one of the standard seafood dishes, but not conch as they did the typical "eraser" preparation. Pasta was flavorful.
