This rocky promontory, the easternmost point in the United States, is about a half-hour drive from Christiansted. A paved road takes you to an overlook with glorious views. More adventurous folks can hike down to the pristine beach below. On the way back, look for the Castle Aura, an enormous Moorish-style mansion. It was built by Nadia Farber, the former Contessa de Navarro, who's an extravagant local character. Point Udall is sometimes a popular spot for thieves, so
don't leave anything valuable in your car, and leave it unlocked.

Having been to St. Croix several times, we finally added this as a stop. The view is truly magnificent as you watch the waves poung the shoreline far below you. Yet you can also hear yourself think and for a few moments breathe in the majesty and power of the ocean. Not many people there, which is nice, too.
