St. Croix Restaurants

The Galleon

Updated 03/04/2014

Fodor's Review

This popular dockside restaurant is always busy. Start with the Caesar salad or perhaps a duck-liver pâté with cherry compote and arugula. The chef's signature dish is a tender filet mignon topped with fresh local lobster. Fish lovers should try the pan-seared sea scallops with roasted tomatoes and a kalamata olive risotto. Take Route 82 out of Christiansted, and then turn left at the sign for Green Cay Marina.

Great evening

First time visit. Outstanding dinner, service and views. Best waiter we've had on the Island. Pricy but worth the visit.

Overpriced and Not worth it

We don't mind spending good money for a great meal at a superb location. The Galleon offers neither. And the time between our appetizer and our dinner was an hour. Far too much. The Caesar salad is delicious but the rest of our meals were just good. But it was the most expensive meal of our 9 nights on St. Croix. The atmosphere isn't worth the price either. Once the sun goes down and you can't see the marina, you are just in a 1970's decor

room. Really disappointing. We gave it a second try this year but, for our money, we'll return to Bacchus and Kendricks instead.

More testosterone than Rocky Mountain Oysters

If you like bad acoustics with way too loud conversations and way overpriced but only average food, the Galleon is the place for you. The food was fine, but not $100 apiece fine. The service was ok, but not 20% ok. The ambience was the biggest turnoff. The loudest group of one-uppers Ive ever had to try to ignore at a dinner table. My yachts bigger then your yacht. A good illustration: the busboy tipped over an ice bucket, and a group at

a nearby table laughed and applauded him. Another round of humiliation on me. If you go to restaurants for nice food and atmosphere, do yourself a favor and find another place. Kendricks food is every bit as good and $50 cheaper and a lot nicer clientele.

Great view of the marina

The food was very good, and the view of the marina is worth the trip. Great martini.

Too pricey

The food was good but not great and pricey. Very nice atmosphere and service. Instead, eat at Savant.
