Fodor's Review

This quiet retreat provides a particularly good base if you want to admire the dramatic views of the windswept coast. It's along a tranquil North Shore beach, about 20 minutes from Christiansted's shops and restaurants. Units vary in size, but all come with kitchenettes, tropical furnishings, private balconies, and those spectacular views. Swimming in front of the hotel is difficult because of the shallow water, but other sandy beaches are steps away. The snorkeling nearby is excellent.

Villa Margarita saved our honeymoon!

We booked the "best" room at Cottages By The Sea for our honeymoon, the Crow's Nest. It was overpriced and rundown, offering little other than a beach that was too hot to enjoy, but worse yet, there was nonstop construction noise - saws, concrete drills, you name it. Our honeymoon was ruined! We'd looked at Villa Margarita when we were planning but thought it was booked up. We emailed the owner, explained our plight and asked if there was

possibly space for us. The room had just been renovated, and Mike and Teri weren't expecting guests in it yet, but they sprang into action and within a few hours had it perfect - even made a run to Home Depot to get us a refrigerator! We'd noticed that the reviews rave about them, and it was immediately apparent why. They live there, and strike the perfect balance - very friendly and helpful while still being professional and offering privacy. Our room was lovely. Spacious, up to date, and very comfortable. There was a notebook of wonderful information about restaurants and activities. The tiki bar is a fun place to hang out, right by the pool. There's even a nice gas grill which we used to cook out one night. We loved sitting out on our balcony at night looking out at the beautiful sea. We felt like we were the only people on the island! The rate was extremely reasonable particularly for the quality of our accommodations. Villa Margarita really did save our honeymoon. Thank you Teri, Mike and Robert!
