Fodor's Review:

The rooms here all open to the breezes and buzz with a mix of locals and visitors. Start with a tasty appetizer like conch fritters or fish chowder (a creamy combination of snapper, white wine, paprika, and secret spices). You can always find steak and chicken dishes, as well as the interesting pasta of the day.

What can I say?

With aaron willis back, the CIA trained Executive Chef who founded The Fishtrap years ago has returned the place back to its original integrity.

Yo simply must ignore all the below negative reviews and try it for yourself in2009 and beyond!

What's wrong with some people? Someone found that the restaurant was closed so they rated the restaurant all 1's? Anyway, the food is great, reasonably priced, atmosphere comfortable (real napkins), decks have lots of nice foliage and hummingbirds flitting around as sunset hits. Good service and nice people. Good for kids too. Great fresh fish. Loved the fried calamari. Hamburgers, chicken dishes and steaks too. Fresh in house desserts (try the coconut cake with rum-caramel sauce) TV in bar. CLEAN bathrooms as well.
Obviously does not deserve such a low rating.

This was our least favorite place to eat on St. John. Waaaay to expensive for what you get.

My husband and I were so excited to try this place--the menu looks amazing. However, we were both disappointed with the quality of the food and the atmosphere. This is right off the main road and you are surrounded by fluorescent lights. Very expensive for the quality as well.

Unusual international menu. The fresh yellowfin tuna was requested medium rare and done just right. The service was friendly, informal and attentive. The atmosphere is unpretentious and fun.

OK I reviewed this place 2 years ago and it's always been a favortie. We go 2 times a year and ALWAYS eat here. So this year for Christmas we go only to find out it's not the same.
When you find a good recipie you keep it. With a restaurant when you find the recipie for sucess you certainly don't change it so what happened here?
We got the run down from our waitress, "New Management"! Aaron their head chef is no longer there, Craig the manager is no longer there and the place is suffering for it.
They have karokee now! Are you kidding me? I come to St. John to relax, if I wanted karokee I'd go to Cancun or Cabo!
The only thing we liked was Paulie was still behind the bar serving drinks. So, if you go to St. John go there for drinks and go somewhere else for dinner. Just make sure you don't show up on Karokee night!
One last thing - we did find out Aaron is opening up a new place on St. Thomas and thank goodness we found Craig. He's at La Tapa and we ate there 2 times and loved it.
