Fodor's Review:

Contemporary Asian cuisine dominates the menu at this elegant open-air eatery in an old St. John house. Come early and relax over drinks while you enjoy the sunset lighting up the harbor. Start with an appetizer such as pork dumplings served with a glass-noodle salad, then move on to entrées such as beef fillet served with pan-roasted potatoes and napa cabbage, or seared tuna served with an apple-and-greens salad. If you still have room for dessert, try the spring roll drizzled with a mango puree and chocolate sauce.

Asolare has a new chef named John Young who has transformed the menu and the staff into a top notch dining experiance. Its the only restuarant on St. Johns that offers Asian Fusion fine dining. We were so elated about the new menu and food, we took pictures of every course before diving in. The food creations are on the money. We has sea scallop with slices on mango, ginger calamari, tuna tartar and the chilean sea bass brought tears to my eyes.... it was that delicious upon first taste. The authentic thai soup brought tears to my eyes too, lol a little to much heat for my palet. We ate there 3 times during our 6 night stay, sampling something different each night. We were there during "shoulder" season, service was impecable, we wanted for nothing and each night we dined, a steady influx of people were being seated. Theres a new chef at the Asolare and if anyone wants out of this world fine dining experiance on St. Johns, thats the place to find it. Its up on a hillside over looking Cruz bay, an open air balcony with candlelight, high lighted by exquisite eats......its was a very pleasurable experiance. I highly recommend this restuarant if your looking for a spectacular dining experiance.

The food here was excellent and the service was very friendly, even if we didn't order everything possible on the menu! The view overlooking the Cruz Bay harbor and out to St. Thomas was beautiful (come for the sunset @ 6:00 P.M.). It is very pricey, but in line with other high-class restaurants on the island. I would recommend it over the Stone Terrace, because it doesn't have to deal with the noise from other local bistros.
