This rustic restaurant with a to-die-for view of Coral Bay is a bit out of the way, but worth the trip. Its interior is made elegant with lace tablecloths, glowing candles, and stylish dinner presentations. Start with sourdough bruschetta, a crisp bread topped with caramelized onions, goat cheese, and marinated tomatoes, then segue into seared sea scallops with sautéed spinach, wild mushrooms, and a potato galette, or rack of lamb with roasted corn and a raspberry sauce. Save room for dessert -- the fresh berry cups with Chambord and caramel are wonderful.

Want to be disappointed? This is the place

After making a reservation well ahead of time, securing it with a credit card and providing a cell number, this establishment had the unmitigated gall to close for the evening so they could move their chef to a hotel restaurant they also own, without making any effort to call their customers. This place is remote and hard to reach, so our evening was ruined since other restaurants were full by the time we returned to town. They own a whole flock of restaurants and obviously do not care about their customers.

Half of our party raved, but half was disappointed

The restaurant couldn't be located in a more beautiful place and if you go early enough, they'll be a fabulous view. Rustic is certainly a good way to describe the place, however. We went over the summer (off-season) and they were out of several items (like salad). Rather pricey for the quality of food; I'd rather go to ZoZos or Asolare on my return to STJ

Best in Virgin Islands

We spent 2 weeks in St Thomas and St John, and ate out at the best restaurants we could find. Of those, Chateau was the best of the best. We ate here on the first and last nights of our honeymoon and couldn't have been happier. The food is unbelievable, the view is gorgeous and the atmosphere is vintage St John - rustic but chic. A visit to St John without a dinner here would be a crime!
