Absolute Disaster!

We almost turned around and got back on the plane after our experience at Breezez! It was fairly late in the evening--8:00 or so--on August 15, 2007, when we arrived at their mostly-empty restaurant. Being our first meal on St. Croix, I were excited to try this place that I'd heard so much about! First of all, three different employees stopped by the hostess station and promised that someone might be with us "eventually". Finally, after twenty minutes or so, we were seated poolside. In another twenty minutes, a waiter arrived to take our drink orders. Another twenty minutes passed before our dinner orders were taken. And so on into the night. Requests for water, bread, etc. were either ignored, forgotten, or never ventured by us for fear of the time involved. The food was passable and plentiful but didn't nearly compensate for the awful, awful service and exorbitant prices (even by St. Croix standards!). Midway through our ordeal a barmaid(?) came through the dining area and inquired in her best East Coast Bronxy accent how we were "doin'". She was downright scary! Abrasive, loud, and rough, to say the least. I finally gave in and had a shot of Crown so I wouldn't lose my cool and tell her exactly how I was "doin'". We couldn't wait to get out of there--we should've left before we were seated, actually! What I really don't understand is how a joint like Breezez can receive such rave reviews from everyone when it's so bad. We had a MUCH better time (MANY, MANY times, really!) down the beach at Smuggler's Cove and no one ever says much about them! Politics, I guess...
