The eagle's-eye view of the Charlotte Amalie harbor from this open-air restaurant is as fantastic as the food. Come before 6 PM and watch the cruise ships depart from the harbor and the sun set over the sea while you have a drink at the bar. Liz Buckalew, who with husband Jerry has been in the island restaurant business since the early 1980s, always greets you with a warm welcome. For starters, try the combination of lobster, shrimp, scallops, and squid marinated in a savory herb vinaigrette. The dark rum, honey, and brown sugar-glazed salmon fillet served with yams is an excellent entrée.

Great choice!

Each time we dine at Banana Tree Grille, it seems to be better than the last. Terrific food, elegant island ambiance and no complaints whatsoever about the service. Agree with the reviewers who love the brie appetizer and the fabulous view and would add my vote for the key lime pie.

Go for the view, not the food

Disappointing dining experience after much build up. Very pricey. The well written menu promises creative combinations with sumptuous ingredients but the end product just didn't deliver. Location is excellent, a "must see" view and the open air dining is fun but the food was better on paper than on the palate.

One of the best

This was a very classy restaurant and would have been a perfect evening but for the attitude of the waitress. The 1st contact was great but something or someone ticked her off and it affected our service the rest of the evening. Still, a don't miss restaurant in our opinion.

Beautiful location and view, but the pool?

The food was good, service slow and inattentive but kind, and noise from adjacent pool distracting.

Bluebeard knew a great view when he saw it!

Getting there is half the adventure. The other half is the wonderful cuisine.Almost get lost trying to fine the restaurant, but we were graciously welcomed and had a a nice sitting. The one thing we enjoyed was the Calamari. Very unique. The wines are a little on the expensive side, but consistantly on the Island, we found that Santa Margherita Pinot Grigio the best value. It costs $18.75 retail in the states and $30.00 to $35.00 in restaurants.

Beautiful location. Great food. My wife and I dined there last week and thought it was the best of all the fine restaurants that we experienced in St. Thomas.
