Diving and Snorkeling

Salt Cay diving is as laid back as the island itself, with dive sites only 5–10 minutes away. Dives start at 35 feet just offshore, with the wall dropping to 7,000 feet as part of the Columbus Passage. Divers can also explore the Endymion, a 140-foot wooden-hulled British sailing vessel that met its demise in 1790. You can swim over the hull and spot the ship’s cannons and anchors off the southern tip of the island. Salt Cay also offers one of the best opportunities in the world to swim with whales as they migrate (mid-January through April).

Salt Cay Divers. Salt Cay Divers conducts daily dive trips and rents out all necessary equipment, with night diving upon request. Snorkeling equipment ($25/day) is also available for your own independent adventure, or you can arrange a guided snorkel trip. Stay above water and explore the coastline in one of their kayaks ($35/half day). In season, SC Divers also offers whale-watching excursions. With limited flight and ferry service for access to the island, note that they can even help get you to Salt Cay from Grand Turk through their private charter service.
