The Somerset Review

This luxury resort has the "wow" factor, starting with the architecture, followed by the service, and ending in your luxuriously appointed suite. What sets the Somerset apart is that it's more focused on your comfort and enjoyment than on attracting a celebrity clientele. A laid-back unpretentiousness means you don't have to dress up to go to the pool. Unmatched service makes you feel at home. A modern pool deck is equipped with a resistance pool and underwater speakers. The oversize suites are equipped with such extras as a plasma TV, an Xbox system, a wine chiller, and Viking appliances, including a washer and dryer, so you don't need to pack heavily. The English Cottages are multistory town homes with 15-foot ceilings in the living rooms; the Stirling House residences all have ocean and pool views; the Estate Villas, which take up an entire floor, are the most stunning, with cathedral ceilings and private hot tubs outside on the balconies. The red tile roofs and oversize balconies complement the turquoise ocean beautifully; the beachfront is on one of the best sections of Grace Bay. It doesn't get better than this.

We stayed at The Somerset in January and loved it. The above reviewer got it right..great staff, excellent dining-O'Soleil is excellent! We stayed in the oceanview Sterling building, very nice but when we return we are staying in a 2nd floor English Cottage, we looked at 2 and for less $$ and just as much sq. footage, same Viking Kitchen and luxury furnishings...why spend more, we don't need the view, we hung out at the pool and beach not out terrace.

Every detail of our stay was perfection. We were warmly greated at the airport by a Somerset representative and shown to a taxi service and taken to the resort. Once at the reception area we were offered a cold beverage and a chilled towel to freshen up with. Very quick and easy check in and then off to our beautifully appointed suite. We reserved a one bedroom English Cottage that was everthing we could have imagined. State of the art Viking kitchen, 2 full baths, amazing vaulted ceilings in the master bedroom, sitting area/sleeper sofa up an amazing spiral staircase. The greatroom was beautifully furnished with a spacious dining table and 6 chairs, comfortable sofa, chairs and all of the music and sound systems and plasma tvs (3) that anyone would need. Truly the most beautiful accomodations that we have ever experienced.
The grounds are wonderfully cared for as well as the pools and beach area. The resort has a very classy feeling without being stuffy. The architecture and layout of the property really sets this property apart from so many of the other resorts on the beach. We can not wait to return!
