Amanyara Review

If you seek seclusion, peace, and tranquillity in a Zenlike atmosphere, this is your place. All accommodations are in pavilions, which are simply furnished with an Asian minimalist flair yet have such luxuries as TVs, DVD players, and surround-sound systems. A movie room and well-stocked library are among the few entertainment options, but small touches, such as a shoe rack at the beach and huggers to keep your bottled water cool, are welcome. No need to sign for anything here—the staff will always remember you by name. When it comes to dining, expect an Asian-influenced menu and very high prices. One thing is for certain: it's a long, pricey ride to other restaurants, not to mention other excursions. This is a place to come if you are looking for peace and quiet in a remote location on a stunning beach. There is construction on-site, but you can't see it from the beach. A unique feature is that rates include the minibar (except spirits) and all long-distance phone calls.

Stylish Seclusion
Secluded, chic, elegant, and peaceful—the luxurious Amanyara is situated on one of the Caribbean's most beautiful islands. Water is a crucial element to the hotel's tranquility: contemporary pavilions and villas are scattered across the property, either perched right on the coast or situated inland next to placid lakes; each are equipped with day beds, a personal bar, and surround sound. Common areas are stunning, especially the infinity pool with uninterrupted views of the Caribbean. The attentive staff knows you by name and will indulge you in candlelit dinners, healing massages, photo shoots, daily snorkeling excursions, and private movie screenings on one of the best beaches in the entire region.

My husband and I stayed at the Amanyara in July of 2010 for 5 days. The experience that we had was amazing! Everything about the experience was first class all the way. . The setting, views and accommodations are simply breathtaking. If you are looking for quiet and relaxation this is the place. If you are more of someone who likes to go out on the town then this is not the place for you!The staff seriously does not even know the word "no" you can dress any way you like, you will never wait for a table or a chair by the pool. It is the highest level of luxury we have ever experienced. We stayed four nights and wanted to stay forever.

The Fodors review pretty much says it all. Lovely beach, fantastic service, amazing, secluded pavilions. Food is interesting, varied, and generally well prepared. Very, very pricey, and you're captive at the resort. Fortunately, when we booked for a minimum stay (3 or 4 nights ?) they threw in the full meal plan. Common areas are stunning, and the infinity pool was gorgeous. No one ever asked for our name or room number. They knew who we were. Use of hobies, kayaks, and snorkle equipment at no charge. A hefty price tag, but there are a lot of unexpected extas - such as free beer and soft drinks from the fridge, great room ammenities, complimentary bottle of Veuve Cliquot. Free daily snorkle trips from the beach.

It almost seemed like there were only about 20 people staying at the resort.

It's not cheap, but if you love beauty, peace and quiet, seclusion and fabulous service, you may never want to go any place else.
