Pirates Hideaway and Blackbeard's Quarters Review
Owner Candy Herwin—true to her self-proclaimed pirate status—has smuggled artistic treasures across the ocean and created her own masterpieces to deck out this lair. Quirkily decorated rooms show her original style and sense of humor. The African and Crow's Nest suites have private baths; Blackbeard's Quarters is a four-bedroom house with rooms that can be rented separately but share a living room and kitchen (one room has an en suite bath; the others share a single bath). On a good day, Candy will cook, but only if you entertain her and other guests—whether by reading a sonnet or singing a song. If you love eclectic and artistic surroundings and want to meet a true pirate queen, this could well be your perfect hideaway. A freshwater pool and gym have been recently added. You can rent golf carts to drive around the island.
