Providenciales
Providenciales in 1 Day
Rent a high-clearance vehicle and go around the island for a day. Start at Pelican Beach in search of empty conch shells. Then check out the Conch Farm, the only one in the world. From the Conch Farm, stop to see "The Hole" in Long Bay on your way to the other end of the island. You can also stop and see Cheshire Hill on your way to Chalk Sound. Chalk Sound is the island's one must-see. The water here is shallow and bright with small, mushroom-like islands in the middle, like a miniature Palau; the sight takes your breath away. Check out Sapodilla Bay and Taylor Bay, where the waters are shallow for hundreds of yards, making them a child's dream. Afterward, take the long, bumpy road to Sapodilla Hill, also known as Osprey Rock; there you can search for rock carvings that are reputedly maps for pirate treasures. While you are there, take a ride to Malcolm's Beach, where just getting there is the adventure. Finish the afternoon at Blue Hills, where colorful buildings are the setting for a game of "slamming" dominos.
