Trinidad's newest and only full-service hotel on the waterfront is a striking high-rise structure and part of the government's dramatic makeover of the Port of Spain waterfront. It's been designed to provide an insulating environment for business travelers. Rooms are tastefully decorated with bamboo floors and feature fuchsia-accent walls. The lobby has stone walls, a waterfall, palm trees, and generous splashes of bright Caribbean colors. The rooftop pool provides a commanding view of the city. Because of ongoing work along the waterfront, the area around the hotel will be under quite a lot of construction until 2010. Pros: spanking new and easily the most upscale hotel on the island; view from the rooftop pool is unbeatable; convenient to downtown and shopping. Cons: right in the middle of a major construction zone; the smell of the nearby wharf can be unpleasant.
