This is one of the prettiest natural harbors in the Caribbean. In 1778, British admiral Samuel Barrington sailed into this secluded bay-within-a-bay and covered his ships with palm fronds to hide them from the French. Today this picturesque community -- where parts of the original movie Doctor Dolittle were filmed in the late 1960s -- is a favorite anchorage. A 24-hour ferry ($2 round-trip) connects the bay's two shores -- a voyage that takes about a minute each way. Marigot Bay has undergone a radical, yet environmentally friendly, transformation. Discovery at Marigot Bay -- a luxury resort, marina, and marina village with restaurants, bars, grocery store, bakery, boutiques, and other services and activities -- has totally revitalized the area.
