Air Travel

Until Argyle International Airport (ARG) becomes fully operational (expected in mid-2016), there are no nonstop flights between the United States and St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Instead, travelers from North America arrive at E.T. Joshua International Airport (SVD) in St. Vincent or the airports in Bequia (BQU), Canouan (CIW), Mustique (MQS), or Union Island (UNI) via regional airlines that connect with major carriers serving Barbados, Grenada, or St. Lucia.

Mustique Airways. This regional airline operates scheduled shared-charter service between Barbados and Mustique (with meet-and-greet service at the Barbados airport for in-transit passengers), as well as inter-Grenadine scheduled service and private charter flights to points around the Caribbean. 784/458–4380; www.mustique.com.

SVG Air. SVG Air operates twice-daily flights between Barbados and St. Vincent, Bequia, Canouan, and Union Island (through Grenadine Air Alliance), as well as frequent service between St. Vincent and the four airports in the Grenadines. Airports

Argyle International Airport. Expected to be fully operational by mid-2016, Argyle International Airport (ARG) will replace E.T. Joshua Airport. Seven years of construction involved removing three mountains, filling two valleys, and spanning one river. The new 9,000-foot (3-km) runway, which parallels one of the island's most beautiful seascapes, accommodates commercial jet flights from overseas—which were unable to land at E.T. Joshua. The three-story passenger terminal has 375,000 square feet of space (vs. 25,000 at the old airport) and includes a food court with outdoor patio, business suites, duty-free shopping, and other amenities, along with the usual arrival and departure areas. E. T. Joshua Airport. This small, busy airport on St. Vincent, which accommodates only turboprop passenger aircraft or small private jets, will be replaced by Argyle International Airport, scheduled for completion in mid-2016. Arnos Vale, St. Vincent, VC0280. 784/458–4011.

Bequia (BQU), Mustique (MQS), Canouan (CIW), and Union Island (UNI) have an airstrip with frequent regional service.
