Logistics

Getting to St. Vincent and the Grenadines: Until the new international airport becomes a reality (in 2011), you will have to connect in one of six Caribbean islands (Barbados, Grenada, Martinique, St. Lucia, Puerto Rico, or Trinidad) to reach either St. Vincent or any of the Grenadines. Some of the smaller Grenadines require both a flight and a boat ride. Unless you're on a private jet, it's an exhausting, time-consuming trip (it's also fairly expensive), yet people still make the effort to reach some of the most wonderful, unspoiled islands in the Caribbean. Once you've landed on St. Vincent, it's also possible to hop to several different islands for a day or longer by air or by an interisland ferry.

Hassle Factor: High, but worth it.

Nonstops: None from the U.S.
