Taxi in St. Martin and St. Maarten

There is a government-sponsored taxi dispatcher at the airport and at the harbor. Posted fares are for one or two people, add $4 per person, 50¢ per bag, $1 for a box or bundle. It costs about $12 from the airport to Phillipsburg or Marigot, and about $22 to Dawn Beach. After 10 PM fares go up 25%, and after midnight 50%. Licensed drivers can be identified by the taxi license plate on the Dutch side, and the window sticker on the French.

You can hail cabs on the street or call the taxi dispatch to have one sent for you. You can arrange with the driver that brought you to pick you up at your restaurant when you are ready. On the French side of the island, the minimum rate for a taxi is $4, $2 for each additional passenger. There's a taxi service at the Marigot port near the tourist information bureau. Fixed fares apply from Juliana International Airport and the Marigot ferry to the various hotels around the island.
