Mario's Bistro Review

Don't miss dinner at this romantic eatery, a perennial favorite for its ravishing cuisine, romantic ambience, and most of all the marvelously friendly owners. Didier Gonnon and Martyne Tardif are out front, while chef Mario Tardif is in the kitchen creating ravishing dishes such as bouillabaisse with green Thai curry, a duet of grilled lamb chops and braised lamb shank shepherd pie, and sautéed jumbo scallops with crab mashed potatoes and leek tempura. Leave room for the heavenly upside-down banana coconut tart with caramel sauce and coconut ice cream. The restaurant is rather strict about reservations for large groups, so be sure to call and get the details.

    Disappointing......

My party of 6 was not pleased with the food last week at Mario's. We have been there before and thought it was just OK and decided to try it again. Four of us disliked our food. The duck was overcooked and dry. No one check with us about the food until the end of the meal. Then she said she wished that she knew earlier! Overpriced and overrated. We had 7 wonderful dinners in St. Maarten (Los Gaucho, Laguna, Mary's Boon, La Montmarte, Pizza Pasta, Beratzu, La Gondola) unfortunately Mario's was not one of them.
