Hôtel L'Esplanade Review

Enthusiasts return again and again to the classy, loft-style suites in this immaculate boutique hotel. Units are tastefully decorated in dark wood, plantation-tropic-style, with big four-poster beds; modern kitchens are sleek and are stocked with basics before you arrive. The bathrooms have chic waterfall showerheads and double vessel sinks. This attention to detail and great service is a hallmark of Kristin Petrelluzzi, who also owns Le Petit Hotel nearby on Grand Case Beach. Private terraces with astounding sunset and bay views are a lovely touch, but you might hear your neighbors enjoying their sundowners too. The big pool is in the pretty garden; you'll have to walk about 10 minutes down the hillside to reach Grand Case beach.

    Wonderful surprise oasis

L'Esplanade is everything we were looking for -- quiet, beautiful and walking distance to some of the best food (and range of food) in the Carribean.

The staff is magnificent and helpful. We were there during some minor construction and they were thoughtful to ask each day if we heard any disturbing noises or had any inconvenience. It was perfect.

The island is mixed, but the French side was a wonderful surprise -- great little markets to get food and supplies and the rooms have European kitchens to make it possible to simply gather some lunch together to sit by the side of the magnificent pool.

    We're heading back this year!
