Princess Heights Review

Perched on a hill 900 feet above Oyster Bay, newly renovated, spacious suites offer privacy, luxury, and white-balustrade balconies with a smashing view of St. Barth. Each apartment has one or two bedrooms with pillow-top mattresses, stainless-steel kitchen appliances whose side-by-side refrigerator comes stocked with complimentary beverages, granite bathrooms with whirlpool tubs, and rain showers, plus flat-screen TVs and daily maid service. Send a grocery list in advance, and your kitchen will be stocked prior to your arrival. There's a fee for the service, but it saves searching for a grocery store. The property is 4 mi (6 km) from Philipsburg. A second building was recently added, and those rooms are much nicer.

    Nothing else comes close

We really enjoyed our stay in the new building at Princess Heights. Our unit (#806) was gorgeous and spotlessly clean. Service was friendly and helpful. We have always been a little skeptical when places are billed as "luxury" accommodations, but this is the real deal. Marble floors, granite countertops, flat screen TV's, high end furnishings, a fully equipped kitchen with full size appliances, jacuzzi bathtubs, a really, really comfortable bed and a large balcony with table for six. Every room, and of course the balcony, has incredible views of the ocean, beach and St Barts. The surrounding area is peaceful, uncrowded and scenic, with a number of restaurants in all price ranges, a marina and Westin hotel nearby. Most of the area consists of large, beautiful hillside villas. Nearby are nature reserves with hiking, unspoiled beaches, horseback riding and a butterfly farm (a must see). There is very little traffic on this part of the island and we appreciated not having to deal with traffic jams, crowds and bridge closing times like we did when we previously stayed in the Simpson Bay and Maho/Cupecoy areas. The French side is easily accessible and Orient Beach is a short drive away. Philipsburg is also only a 10 minute drive away and much easier to get too from this part of the Dutch side.

All in all I would highly recommend Princess Heights. We have not found anything comparable in our 10+ years of visiting the island and the rates are surprisingly low, amazing really given the quality of the property.

I would recommend requesting the new building because it has an elevator and would also request a unit at the end of the new building closest to the ocean because of the added privacy and better views. Note that the ground floor units have patios adjacent to each other instead of private balconies and thus have less privacy.

Fantastic CondoHotel - 5 Star Quality

We stayed at Princess Heights for February vacation. The place is so fantastic, it is away from the HonkyTonk of Maho and Simpson Bay as well as the Concrete Jungle that Cupecoy had become. It is located in a more secluded area of the Island, which we preferred. I suggest a rental car for your stay as there is much to see on the Island and it is easier to get around.

We requested unit # 1106 and got it. It is decorated beautifully and has most everything you need for your vacation. Stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, marble bathrooms, tub with jacuzzi , shower, double sinks and a fully stocked kitchen for cooking. A/C works crazy good - cools the rooms off very quickly.

There is free high speed internet access in the rooms ( bring a cord - altho we forgot one - the front office supplied us one for our stay ) The internet access was faster than mine at home LOL ! The balconies are large with a table and 6 chairs, great for dinner or breakfast , and overlook the ocean and St. Barts. 1106 is on the top floor that can been rented ( it is on the 5th floor ) and has beautiful views because it is on the oceanside end. Spectacular Views ! There is an elevator to this building and it makes it convenient with groceries and packages. The unit was spotless , like new and everything worked perfectly. There are three flat screen 40 inch TV's ( one with a DVD in the living room ) with a great assortment of DVD's to view, they also have cable channels HBO/SHOWTIME/ FOX, CNBC and others. There are books to read and games to play in the unit. The beds are the best I've ever slept on - very comfortable. Linens and sheets are excellent.

The service at Princess Heights is second to none. FIRST CLASS ! The front office workers help you with anything and everything. The housekeepers are great ! The surroundings and views are gorgeous. It is a meticulously well maintained property.

We used the Westin for our enjoyment - they rent cabanas and chairs with "bubbles" and have seaside service for food & beverage. We also hit their casino every night and used their shoppes . Walked right across the street . We also went to Atlantis Casino and Casino Royale. We had dinner at Big Fish ( twice and my favourite ) , L'Aurberge Gourmande, La Vie En Rose , Busbys, La Bistro de la Mer and Capt. Olivers - all of which were wonderful. I highly recommend Big Fish which is 1/2 mile away on Oyster Pond. We went to the Festival Market in Marigot and Harmony Nights in Grand Case - they were both great !

We will be regular guests at Princess Heights - it is the best place on the Island for the quality, class, price, cleanliness and overall appeal. You will not be disappointed if you stay here. Simply the best !

    Best Hotel On Island !

Stayed at Princess Heights Dec.28-Jan 04, 2007 in a one bdrm condo. Its clean, spotless, comfortable, well kept.Rooms are large, open with lots of light. Marble floors thruout and central A/C. Balconies are very large overlooking the ocean and St. Barts. We spent mornings/early evenings on the balconies taking in the beauty that is Dawn Beach. St. Barts looks so close you can touch it .The landscaping is beautiful, pool is huge.Great fitness center.Condo has a fully equipped granite kitchen with all the utensils the chef in you need .The staff is extremely friendly, thoughtful, helpful, professional. Maids are wonderful, very meticulous.(daily maid service) They have morning roomservice for breakfast . Its run like a 5-STAR hotel yet has the charming quaint ambience of a family run private paradise hotel. Went to Dawn Beach everyday, you can access it thru the Westin Hotel across the street .For those that want to drive to Dawn Beach, the Westin has made a right-of-way (government sanctioned) for the public to access the beach. Drive thru the gate between the white fence and the Westin parking garage to the very back (almost to the beach ). There are 9 parking spots for the public, just walk around the building 10 meters and you are on Dawn Beach .We walk to Dawn Beach from Princess.Heights because access is so easy, directly across the street down the hill, about 500 barefoot steps. We hit the Westin Dawn Beach casino and bar everynight, but were always able to retreat to our nice little quiet slice of heaven at Princess Heights. Some light construction going on in Dawn Beach(Westin/Princess Heights) but it did not bother us. Restaurants nearby: Daniels, Busby's, Tabba Khaddy, Le Plantieur, Capt Olivers. ATM machine at Oyster Bay. We had a wonderful stay and are looking to get back there in May 2007. I highly recommend Princess Heights.
