St. Lucia may be the most popular island in all of the Caribbean for weddings and honeymoons. Nearly all of St. Lucia's resort hotels and most of the small inns offer attractive wedding-honeymoon packages, as well as coordinators to handle the legalities and plan a memorable event. Sandals properties offer complimentary weddings to couples booking a minimum-stay honeymoon. Rendezvous, a couples-only resort, is also a popular wedding venue. The most striking setting, though, is probably smack between the Pitons at Ladera.
You can marry on the same day you arrive in St. Lucia if you apply for a "special" marriage license, pay the $200 special marriage license fee, and have all the necessary documents. You must present valid passports, birth certificates, a divorce decree if either party is divorced, an appropriate death certificate if either party is widowed, and a notarized parental consent if either party is under the age of 18. Most couples opt for the standard marriage license, which costs $125 and requires three days of residence on the island prior to the wedding ceremony. In either case, special or standard, you can expect additional registrar and certificate fees amounting to about $40. Resort wedding coordinators will help you put together the correct paperwork and, if you wish, will arrange photographer, flowers, musicians, church or other locations for the ceremony, and food and beverage for a reception.
