Our Planet Centre Review

The only such attraction of its kind in the world, at least to date, Our Planet Centre is devoted to the many facets of the Earth's environment. It's a fascinating, educational stop for the entire family and an especially good option on a rainy day. The exhibits include an Immersion Tunnel, where you can see how the planet was created and grew into its current state; Hurricane Island, where touch screens allow you to manipulate weather patterns to create a hurricane; Mirrorsphere, which gives a kaleidoscopic view of Earth's plants and animals; Science on a Sphere, installed by NOAA/NASA, which views the Earth from space complete with hurricanes, earthquakes, volcanoes, and tsunamis; and—the best part—a laser show in the Special Effects Theatre, where the lighting, shaking seats, wind, and mist mimic extreme weather events. The personalized guided tour takes about 90 minutes, but you'll probably want to linger longer at some of the exhibits and interactive games—which is fine. A gift shop features locally made recycled, reused, and natural products.
