Five miles (8 km) south of Castries, on the mid-west coast of St. Lucia, Discovery at Marigot Bay climbs the hillside of what author James Michener called "the most beautiful bay in the Caribbean." Each unit is exquisitely decorated with dark Balinese furniture accented by comfy earth-tone cushions, a four-poster bed with pillow-top mattress, and dark hardwood flooring. Oversize bathrooms have walk-in "drench" showers and double basins set in slate vanities. Each suite has a full kitchen equipped with modern Euro-designer appliances, a spacious living room with a sofa bed and dining area, a balcony or deck, and a washer and dryer; half the suites have private plunge pools. Boats tie up at the resort's dock, and a solar-powered ferry transports guests to the beach or the Rainforest Hideaway restaurant. Pros: stunning bay view; excellent service; oversize accommodations. Cons: you'll want a rental car to explore beyond Marigot Bay; beach is picturesque but tiny.

Very nice place to stay. The service was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant selection in Marigot Bay is somewhat weak and driving around the island is not exactly easy, so we ate in the room a bunch. The pool is very nice and taking water taxis was fun. The concierge could have been a bit more helpful, but they're trying. We would go back. We have two kids, 2 and 8, they had a lot of fun.
