St. Lucia Sights

Bounty Rum Distillery

Bounty Rum Distillery Review

St. Lucia Distillers, which produces the island's own Bounty and Chairman's Reserve rums, offers 90-minute Rhythm and Rum tours of its distillery, including information on the history of sugar, the background of rum, a detailed description of the distillation process, colorful displays of local architecture, a glimpse at a typical rum shop, Caribbean music, and a chance to sample the company's rums and liqueurs. The distillery is at the Roseau Sugar Factory in the Roseau Valley, on the island's largest banana plantation, a few miles south of Castries and not far from Marigot. Reservations for the tour are essential.

While we were visiting St. Lucia in early November, my husband and I decided to see the only distillery in St. Lucia. It was an interesting tour and being able to sample the many bottles of different flavored rum was enlightening. We thought the US$10 charge per person was a little high, although we still enjoyed learning about the history and making of Bounty rum.
