Sandals Regency La Toc Golf Resort & Spa

La Toc Rd., Castries, Castries, St. Lucia

Why We Like It

Couples seem to love Sandals, and this one—having been a popular luxury resort before it became Sandals—has a more traditional style than some of the company’s other resorts.

Fodor's Expert Review

The second-largest of the three Sandals on St. Lucia, this resort distinguishes itself with a 9-hole golf course (for guests only); like the others, though, this Sandals is all-inclusive and for couples only. The resort covers 210 hillside acres overlooking the sea at La Toc on the southern shore of Castries Bay.

You Should Know Be prepared to walk up and down lots of hills and steps.

Room

The resort has 18 guestroom categories: luxury, deluxe, grande luxe, honeymoon, penthouse, club level, oceanview, beachfront, walkout, and so forth. All are decorated with rich mahogany furniture, king-size four-poster beds, plush fabrics, and island artwork. Many rooms have private plunge pools or outdoor soaking tubs. Some rooms come with Club Sandals concierge services, which include private check-in, all-day room service, and access to the Club Sandals lounge. Top of the line are the huge oceanfront villas that come with a private butler, countless amenities, extraordinary furnishings, and a panoramic view.

Bathroom

Like the rooms, the bathrooms here vary considerably. After all, there are more than 300 of them in the resort! Some rooms have large, modern soaking tubs; some have stand-alone, claw-foot tubs; some have tubs with jets. Some have single vessel or countertop sinks, and some have granite vanities with double sinks. Mostly, the bathrooms are modern and well-appointed. And some rooms have a second soaking tub (for two) on the balcony.

Lobby

The lobby here is a large, low-ceiling room with a reception desk and lots of comfortable seating—traditionally upholstered chairs and sofas arranged around cocktail tables. On the interior side of the lobby, an open hallway overlooks the pool and lower level.

Pool

There are two large, iconic Sandals pools on the property—the main pool and Sunset Bluff pool—each with a waterfall, swim-up bar, and Jacuzzi. A third, smaller pool is at the Piton’s Village section of the property. Also, many suites have private plunge pools—and some of those are quite large.

Tip Ask you butler to reserve a poolside lounge chair for you, as empty ones are sometimes scarce.

Spa

Sandals’ signature Red Lane Spa has “rejuvenation specialists” that provide massages, scrubs, and wraps.

You Should Know Spa services cost extra.

Gym

The air-conditioned fitness center has Cybex equipment, elliptical machines, exercise bikes, stair climbers, treadmills, medicine balls, free weights, and more—plus a variety of aerobic and aqua-fit classes. There’s plenty here to help you stay in shape.

Dining

Nine restaurants serve Japanese, Italian, French, Mediterranean, and Caribbean cuisine, as well as pizza, sushi, pub-style fare, and an international buffet.

Tip Some restaurants require reservations.

Drinking

Eight bars serve unlimited liquid refreshments. Two pools have swim-up bars, and several restaurants have their own bars. For night owls, Herbie’s Piano Bar stays open until 1 a.m., and The Cricketer’s Pub serves until 2 a.m.

Beach

A half-mile crescent beach is a focal point for swimming, socializing, and enjoying water sports. Kayaks, windsurfers, snorkels, sailboats, paddleboards, and water trikes await—plus scuba diving is unlimited for certified divers (equipment includied). If you’ve new to scuba diving, a resort course ($100) will have you diving that day—and a one-tank dive every day, if you wish.

Tip Be mindful of flag warnings, as the current at the beach can be strong.

Golf

Greens fees are included at the 9-hole, 3,141-yard, resort-style course on the La Toc property. Caddies are mandatory, golf carts are optional, and clubs and shoes are available—all at extra cost. Lessons can be arranged, also for a fee, but a weekly PGA-certified golf clinic is complimentary.

Tip Expert golfers prefer the championship links at St. Lucia Golf & Country Club at the northern tip of the island.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Sandals guests usually find plenty to do on-site or at the two other Sandals properties on St. Lucia—or they join an Island Routes tour (also a Sandals operation). A free hourly shuttle connects all three Sandals properties, and airport transfers are complimentary.

Restaurants

As an all-inclusive, you’ll likely stick to dining at Sandals. But here on St. Lucia, that means access to 27 restaurants: 9 at Sandals La Toc, 6 at Sandals Halcyon, and 12 at Sandals Grande.

Bars

With 8 bars at La Toc, two of which remain open until the wee hours, you don’t need to venture far to get a drink. You’re entitled to unlimited beverages at the bars at Sandals Halcyon (7) and Sandals Grande (6), however, so that’s a total of 21!
