Windsurfing and Kiteboarding in St. Lucia

Windsurfers and kiteboarders congregate at Anse de Sables Beach in Vieux Fort, at the southeastern tip of St. Lucia, to take advantage of the blue-water and high-wind conditions that the Atlantic Ocean provides. The Reef Kite & Surf Centre (Anse de Sables, Vieux Fort. 758/454-3418) rents equipment and offers lessons from certified instructors in both windsurfing and kiteboarding. A three-hour beginning windsurfing course costs $90, plus $45 to rent equipment for a half day. For kiteboarding, the three-hour starter course costs $125, including equipment. Kiteboarding is particularly strenuous, so participants must be excellent swimmers and in good physical health.
