Golf in St. Lucia

St. Lucia Golf Club (Cap Estate. 758/452-8523. www.stluciagolf.com), the only public course, is at the island's northern tip and offers panoramic views of both the Atlantic and Caribbean. It's an 18-hole championship course (6,836 yards, par 71). The clubhouse has a fine-dining restaurant called the Cap Grill that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner; the Sports Bar is a convivial meeting place any time of day. You can rent clubs and shoes and arrange lessons at the pro shop and perfect your swing at the 350-yard driving range. Greens fees range from $90 for 9 holes in the off-season to $140 for 18 holes in high season; carts are required and included; club and shoe rentals are available. Reservations are essential. Complimentary transportation from your hotel or cruise ship is provided for parties of three or more people. The St. Lucia Golf Open, a two-day spring tournament, is open to amateurs; it's a handicap event, and prizes are awarded.
