St. Kitts and Nevis are both popular wedding locales, and it's relatively easy and fast to obtain a license. Both bride and groom must be in the country for at least two full working days (weekdays) before the ceremony, and the cost of a license is $80 (the fee is reduced to $20 if the parties have been on the island for at least 15 days). You must present a valid passport or birth certificate; if divorced, you must have a divorce decree plus a notarized translation if the document is not in English; if you're widowed, you must have a copy of the death certificate of the deceased spouse. There will be a charge for a civil service from the notary public and the marriage officer, who is the local magistrate. Your hotel will help make the arrangements; most have wedding coordinators. Couples have often tied the knot on the picturesque 18th-hole lawn overlooking the sea on the Four Seasons golf course, at the various plantation inns, atop Brimstone Hill, and on the beaches throughout the islands.
