Fodor's Expert Review Port Zante

Caribbean Marina/Pier

Port Zante is an ambitious, ever-growing 27-acre cruise-ship pier and marina in an area that has been reclaimed from the sea. The domed welcome center is an imposing neoclassical hodgepodge, with columns and stone arches, shops, walkways, fountains, and West Indian–style buildings housing both cheap souvenir and luxury shops, galleries, restaurants, and a small casino, though nothing is really outstanding. The crafts and T-shirt booths of the Amina Marketplace sit at the entrance beyond the Pelican Mall, offering the only option for something locally made. A second pier, 1,434 feet long, has a draft that accommodates even leviathan cruise ships. The selection of shops and restaurants (Sweet Cane serves an array of authentic Caribbean cuisine) continues to expand.
