This restful, cozy bed-and-breakfast, a two-minute drive from Frigate Bay beaches (airport transfers are included), provides truly local warmth, courtesy of Judith and Keith Blake. Their gingerbread house and surrounding garden are lovely: the living and dining rooms have carved mahogany doors, crystal chandeliers, English rugs, vividly painted walls hung with equally bold artworks, and hardwood floors. The extensive, breezy verandah seduces with white-wicker chaise lounges, hammocks, and majestic sea views. Two rooms have brass beds draped with mosquito netting. The larger, preferable one has a full kitchen and its own patio and entrance. Judith prepares lavish breakfasts of banana pancakes, pumpkin fritters, and bush teas with ingredients from her herb garden. Islanders also cherish her homemade ice creams; though she no longer makes them commercially you can sample on-site. Pros: genuine island hospitality; immaculately maintained; delicious breakfasts. Cons: long walk to beach; car recommended to get around.
