Taxes and Service Charges
The departure tax—$10 for flights to Dutch Caribbean islands and foreign destinations—is payable in cash only. Note: when flying home through St. Maarten, list yourself as "in transit" to avoid paying the tax levied in St. Maarten if you will be there for less than 24 hours. Hotels collect a 7% government tax and 3% turnover tax. Restaurants charge a 3% government tax and a 10% service charge.
