Public holidays for the year are New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday (March or April), Coronation Day and the Queen's Birthday (celebrating the birthday and coronation of Holland's Queen Beatrix, April 30), Labor Day (May 1), Emancipation Day (July 1), Statia-America Day (commemorating events of 1776, when Statia became the first foreign government to salute the American flag, November 16), Christmas, and Boxing Day (December 26).
