Language in St. Barths
Language
French is the official language, so it can't hurt to pack a phrase book and/or French dictionary. If you speak any French at all, don't be shy. You may also hear Creole, the regional French dialect called patois, and even the Creole of Guadeloupe. Most hotel and restaurant employees speak some English -- at least enough to help you find what you need.
