Over the hills beyond Grand Cul de Sac is this much-photographed coastline. Stone fences crisscross the steep slopes of Morne Vitet, one of many small mountains on St. Barths, along a rocky shore that resembles the rugged coast of Normandy. It's one island beach that's been nicknamed the "washing machine" because of its turbulent surf. Even expert swimmers should beware of the strong undertow here; swimming is generally not recommended.
