Gustavia

Gustavia Review

You can easily explore all of Gustavia during a two-hour stroll. Most shops close from noon to 2 or 3, so plan lunch accordingly, but stores stay open past 7 in the evening.

On the far side of the harbor known as La Pointe is the charming Municipal Museum, where you can find watercolors, portraits, photographs, and historic documents detailing the island's history, as well as displays of the island's flowers, plants, and marine life. La Pointe, 97133. 599/29-71-55. €2. Mon., Tues., Thurs., and Fri. 8:30-12:30 and 2:30-6, Sat. 9-12:30.

A good spot to park your car is rue de la République, alongside the catamarans, yachts, and sailboats. The tourist office on the pier can provide maps and a wealth of information. During busier holiday periods, the office may be open all day. Rue de la République, 97133. 0590/27-87-27. www.saintbarth-tourisme.com. Mon. 8:30-12:30, Tues.-Fri. 8-noon and 2-5, Sat. 9-noon.
