This chic but casual boutique hotel right on busy St. Jean beach is fun for social types. A garden winds around the brightly painted suites, over the pool via a small footbridge, into the hopping, open-air restaurant La Plage. The nonstop house party often spills out onto the terraces and lasts into the wee hours. Big, plantation-style rooms have high ceilings, cozy draped beds, nice baths, a TV with DVD player, direct-dial phones, and patios. Oceanfront suites are the most expensive, but all the rooms are clean and cozy, and were refurbished in 2007 with a romantic white, rose, and lavender color scheme. Pros: party central at beach, restaurant, and pool; in-town location. Cons: trendy social scene is not for everybody, especially light sleepers.
