Decorated like a chic beach house, Bonito features big white canvas couches for lounging, in the center; tables around the sides; an open kitchen; and three bar areas—all on a hill above Gustavia Harbor. The young Venezuelan owners go to great lengths to see that guests are having as much fun as they are. The specialty is ceviche (eight varieties), in combos that are prettily arrayed on poured-glass platters. Try octopus and shrimp, or wahoo garnished with sweet potatoes and popcorn. Traditionalists might like the fricassee of escargots or foie gras served with pear chutney. Carnivores love the olive-crusted rack of lamb. French pastry classics are on the dessert menu. A sister location, with the same terrific food but a quieter ambience, is in the chic beachside Le Sereno resort.
