You won't need long to tour the island by car -- you can cover the entire circuitous length of the Road in the space of a morning. If you want to shop, have lunch, and do some sightseeing, plan on a full day. If you rent a car, remember that the island's only gas station in Fort Bay closes at 3 PM.

Carless Sabans get around the old-fashioned ways -- walking and hitchhiking (very popular and safe). If you choose to thumb rides, you'll need to know the rules of the Road. To get a lift from the Bottom (which actually is near the top of the island), sit on the wall opposite the Anglican church; to catch one in Fort Bay, sit on the wall opposite the Saba Deep dive center, where the road begins to twist upward.
